Reactive, anxious, or out of control? Let’s find out why, and what it will take.
Real behavior change, learned alongside other dogs.
Dogs don’t live in a vacuum, so we don’t train them in one. At Pooches Paradise, training happens inside a structured, supervised pack, every day, with a team that already knows your dog.
Trust and respect are the cornerstone of everything we do. Every dog has a story, so there’s no one-size-fits-all here: we learn yours, establish an honest behavioral baseline, and build the plan around your dog.
Start with a Complimentary Training Consult
Every dog’s story is different, so we start with a conversation, not a package. In about 30 minutes, by phone, video call or in person at Pooches Paradise, we’ll talk through your dog’s history, what’s been happening, and what you want to change.
You’ll leave knowing:
- The approach we’d take and how the training is structured
- A realistic timeline for progress
- Whether we’re the right fit for your dog
What happens next: If it’s a fit, the next step is an in-person Behavior Baseline Assessment: a slower-paced temperament and baseline evaluation with your dog, at no charge for new clients. From there we recommend the best program.
Is it right for your dog? Our training is built on the pack. Dogs learn alongside other dogs, with a dedicated handler. If you want your dog to avoid other dogs entirely, we may not be the right fit, and we’ll tell you so honestly.
Why the pack changes everything
- Real behavior shows up here. A dog can look perfect at a park or in a living room. In a playgroup, with the same dogs day after day, the behaviors that matter surface, so we can train them.
- Training doesn’t stop when the session ends. Every arrival, transition and play session is a chance to reinforce. Other dogs teach manners first; we step in when the lesson hasn’t landed.
- A team, not one trainer. A dog that only listens to one handler regresses the moment someone else holds the leash. Every handler on our team trains to the same methods and the same standard, so your dog learns to respond to whoever holds the leash. Then we train you.
- A controlled environment for the hard cases. Reactive and aggressive dogs carry real risk. Here we control who your dog meets, when, and at what distance, with our team in every playroom. We’ve helped dogs their owners never thought could be around another dog. Sometimes the fastest way forward is to slow down and get on their level.
How we train
Our specialty is the dogs many trainers won’t take: aggressive, reactive, and rescue or trauma cases. We follow LIMA principles (least intrusive, minimally aversive): we start with the least intrusive approach likely to work and step up only when the behavior calls for it.
That can include a prong or e-collar. If we believe your dog needs one, we’ll tell you why, show you exactly how it’s used, and keep you informed at every step. A training collar is a communication tool, never a punishment: the lowest effective level, feedback within 1.5–2 seconds of the behavior, and used only as long as your dog needs it. Respect built on fear isn’t respect, and it never lasts.
What you can count on: an honest assessment of your dog, an open line to our team, and results you can see. Prefer an approach without these tools? Tell us at the start, and we’ll help you find the right fit.
Private Lessons
One-on-one sessions
Private Lessons are a great fit for busy owners, dogs with a specific behavior problem, owners with a particular goal, and dogs who aren’t ready for a group, including aggressive or fearful dogs. Sessions are one hour, at Pooches Paradise or off-site when the goal calls for real-world practice.
Pricing: $150 per one-hour sessionDaycare Education
Training inside the pack
Your dog spends the day with us and goes home with you every night. A trained handler works 1:1 with your dog through the daycare day on manners and behavior, inside the group, where those behaviors actually show up. Your dog still gets time to play with friends, and you get a daily debrief so you can stay consistent at home.
Daycare Education is also excellent for dogs who need help with social skills and confidence: we offer safe, controlled interactions with the right dogs at the right pace.
Prerequisite: Temperament Evaluation
Pricing: $50 per day, plus the cost of daycare
Board & Train
Immersive, customized programs
Board & Train is built for each dog around your goals, and it’s often the best fit for dogs who need more structure, including reactive and aggressive dogs. An immersive environment lets us earn your dog’s trust and respect, with daily socialization and 1:1 training sessions every day. Every program ends with a formal go-home debrief so the training carries over to you.
Pricing: Starting at $1,000 per week, with program length customized to your dog’s goals. Boarding is billed separately, based on your pup’s size and accommodations.
From first call to lasting results
- Tell us about your dog. Share your goals and what’s going on. We’ll schedule a 30-minute consult within 1 business day.
- Baseline before plan. We learn your dog’s story, triggers and thresholds before recommending a program.
- The training. Private Lessons, Daycare Education or Board & Train, all built on the same method.
- The handoff. Your dog shifts from our handler to you, their leader, with a debrief so the training carries over at home.
- The real work. The same rules at home and every day your dog is with us. We take on clients willing to put in the work, because the outcome depends on it.
Our pedigree of training is one of results. Knowing every dog has a story, so too, every dog’s path towards success is different. We firmly believe that canine training is not a one-size-fits all approach. We want to understand our client’s goal and objectives, determine a behavioral baseline, and craft the best program for your pup.
With dedicated 1:1 training they helped her to overcome some of the anxiety-related traits she had picked up along the way.
I enjoy that the staff takes the time to continue all the training that I put in and it’s not a free for all during daycare.
They have gone out of their way to help with training and working on solutions for our very energetic boy, Doc. They truly feel like a partner.
We’ve used their training service which made a big difference in our more anxious pup.
We knew adopting such an energetic breed we would need some solid training and he (and us!) learned so much from the training sessions.
They’ve been a true partner in making him a better, healthier and happy dog.
